Storm Strikes Three States: As you know, Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama coast the morning of August 29, 2005 causing severe flooding and major damage to large areas of those, and neighboring, states. Power outages were widespread. The Superdome in New Orleans, being used as a shelter for thousands of mostly homeless and disabled people, had several roof leaks. Within a few days New Orleans was virtually destroyed by floodwaters. Financial Contributions: General Assembly has assigned the above project number for the storm. Please make checks payable to The Presbytery of Tampa Bay and send them to the above address. You may also give using your credit card by calling PresbyTel at (800) 872-3283 or online by clicking here. How else can you help? Most importantly, pray for those who are still recovering from the storm, as well as those still assisting in relief effort. Other Assistance Information: It takes at least four days for emergency personnel to assess damage. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Team (PDAT) members are dispatched as soon as travel is safe. Denomination Information: For further information on how the denomination responded, and continues to respond to disasters, click here.
