Personal Bio: In 2005 Cheryl and her husband, Ricardo, relocated from Reston, VA, where she was serving as business manager for Immanuel Presbyterian Church in McLean, VA. They were long-time members of (and married at) The United Christian Parish of Reston, a four-denomination ecumenical faith community where Cheryl served in a variety of capacities, including worship chair and moderator. She was ordained (PCUSA) Elder there.
Cheryl joined the Presbytery in December 2007, having previously served both PC(USA) and United Methodist churches since 1999 with a focus on finance and facility management. Her prior career path in medical manufacturing procurement, inventory control and contract management set the stage for her work in church administration.
Education of church administrative staff is Cheryl's passion, stemming from a broader understanding of how this ministry area can make a difference in the life of an organization. She advocates membership and certification in the National Association of Church Business Administration (NACBA) and any denominational programs, as well as local chapter involvement. Currently, Cheryl is serving as Vice President of the NACBA Sunshine Chapter with program oversight and is a local liaison to the Orlando 2010 NACBA Conference planning committee. Her certifications include:
- National Association of Church Business Administration 2002
- Presbyterian Church Business Administrator's Association 2002
- NACBA Cambridge University Risk Management 2003
- United Methodist Church Business Administrator's Association 2005
- Advanced Seminar I Training 2006
In addition to serving the Presbytery, Cheryl is a certified biofeedback stress reduction practitioner with a focus on nutritional wellness. She and Ricardo live in St. Petersburg where they are members at Maximo Presbyterian Church. They have three children and four grandchildren.
